Year 11 Mathematics Compulsory

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Taiuru.

Year 11 Mathematics is compulsory for all students. At the end of this year, all Year 10 students will be placed in the most appropriate course for the following year.

There are three Mathematics courses in Year 11 . . .

  • Mathematics Studies (MAS) - This is aimed at students who require more support to make progress in Mathematics. The focus is mainly on meeting the Numeracy requirements.
  • Foundation Mathematics (MFD) - This is a broad course covering a range of topics leading on to the L2 and L3 Foundation courses.
  • Mathematics (MAT) - This is our 'full' course which has a strong Algebra focus and leads on to the full L2 and L3 courses in Calculus and Statistics, and ultimately to tertiary studies in the pure and applied sciences.

You can read about these three courses if you navigate to the Mathematics Department via the 'Learning Areas' button on the left-hand side or the 'Mathematics' link at the bottom of this explanation.
