Level 2 Childcare Studies
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs D. Manley.
This course will focus on building your knowledge and skills to care for young children / tamariki while supporing their overall health and wellbeing.
Learning includes:
Attachment behaviours and strategies to support young children / tamariki and whānau.
A range of health issues and environmental factors
The importance of personal and environmental hygiene to keep children safe and healthy
Exploring a range of community health support services and networks.
Hands-on activities:
Taking home our 'realcare' simulated babies to experience what caring for an infant is like.
Preparing nutritional food for relevant ages.
Visiting our local play centre.
Please note this is a unit standards course. This means that you can get credits towards your Level 2 NCEA, but they are only marked as Achieved or Not Achieved.
What should I have already done?
An interest in children and their wellbeing is recommended.
