Year 9 French
Course Description

This is a fun and varied Year 9 French taster course that leads to a full year of French in Year 10. Students cover basic everyday language which will enable them to meet and greet people, be able to talk about themselves, to be able to order food and drinks, express opinions and talk about family and school life. Students develop skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking to communicate in French and develop an understanding of its culture. Students will be immersed in the use of the target language in the classroom. During the trimester, we watch a French film and enjoy a French picnic with authentic French foods as well as playing French outdoor games such as Pétanque. Being able to communicate in a second language is a valuable skill that many employers look for, it is a skill that will open many doors for you and is particularly useful if you are considering working in a career such as hospitality, tourism, law, teaching, fashion, local government or the travel industry.

This course is open to all students. You do not need to have done any French before.
