All Year 9 students take this course which runs for a third of the year.  Te Ao Māori will provide an introduction to the Māori world where students will learn basic pronunciation, pepeha, tikanga, karakia, waiata, components of Māori performing arts and our local Māori history.

Students desiring a deeper understanding of Te Ao Māori are encouraged to partake in Te Reo Māori which begins in Year 9 and Te Ao Haka which begins in Y10.

Please note that this is a cultural course not a language course and is very different to te reo Māori.  If you are wanting to develop an understanding of te reo Māori please select Year 9 Te reo Māori.
