Course Description
Teacher in Charge:
Taking a language at NCEA is a valuable skill that employers from many industries are looking for when recruiting. It sets you apart from other people competing in the same field. Level 1 French is a well structured and supportive course. You will work in small groups/pairs for most of the activities.
During Level 1 you will learn to communicate in French in a range of contexts. You will learn to understand and reply to spoken French more freely and in real life situations such a buying a train ticket or booking a hotel room. Reading and writing skills are further developed and you will gain an increased vocabulary for a range of useful real-life topics and a deeper understanding of French culture and ideas.
Topics include shopping, eating out, ordering a pizza, cinema, school, self and family and holidays. We watch two French films during the year and sample authentic French foods at the end of each term. We complete one speaking Internal which is a presentation (one minute long) all about yourself to a friend or family member.

Learning a language is fun and interesting and you get a real sense of achievement as your communication skills in the foreign language improve, but also….
