Year 10 French

Year 10 French is a foundation course that runs for one year (semester 1 and semester 2) to provide students with a cohesive language learning pathway in Year 11. You will cover a variety of topics throughout the year expanding your vocabulary and building on knowledge of grammar. Topics include Paris, fashion, food and drink, film, weather, hobbies and interests. You cover the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing and have access to interactive language learning platforms to learn more about French culture and the French speaking world. 

You will watch two French language films, learn to make French foods and experience a French café situation. Students work in pairs and small groups. Being able to communicate in a second language is a valuable skill that many employers look for, it is a skill that will open many doors for you and is particularly useful if you are considering working in a career such as hospitality, tourism, law, teaching, fashion, local government or the travel industry.

If you wish to do Year 11 French in 2026,  you must chose Year 10 French in 2025

Assessment Information

You will complete small assessments in class covering speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. These are spread out throughout the year as you learn new vocabulary.
